Irish Continental Group announces that it has made a purchase of its own shares on the market as follows:

Date of Transaction: 30 September 2004.

Number of Shares: 150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand) ICG Units representing 0.6% of the previously issued shares.

Price: The price paid was €10.00 per unit.

These shares will be held as treasury shares.
