Notification of Substantial Shareholding

Pursuant to the obligation placed on us by paragraph 9.11 of the Listing Rules, we advise that on 14th December 2004, the Company received notification that AIB Group and its subsidiaries has a notifiable interest in 2,660,160 Ordinary Shares in Irish Continental Group plc., representing 11.4% of the Company’s issued ordinary share capital.
