RE: Notification of Substantial Shareholding

Pursuant to the obligation placed on us by paragraph 9.11 of the Listing Rules, we advise that on 3rd December 2002, the Company received notification that Allied Irish Banks plc and its subsidiaries has a notifiable interest in 2,705,006 Ordinary Shares in Irish Continental Group plc., representing 10.1% of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.
